Group of companies “Russian Plastic” consists of operating company “Russian Plastic” Ltd. and manufacturing company “Stavroplast”.
Joint Stock Company “Stavroplast" is the biggest enterprise in the Federal Region of Northern Caucasus of Russia and specialized in production of plastic packaging products.
The enterprise is located in Mineralnye Vody of Stavropol Region, Russia.
Total area of the plant is more than 9 hectares with production area of near 31 ths m2. The number of employees exceeds 300 persons.
Stavroplast is specialized in manufacturing of the following products:
- Polyethylene (PE) shopping bags and PE film;
- Woven polypropylene (PP) sacks: stitched bags (raffia bags) for salt, sugar and etc., box-shaped valve bags (block bottom valve bags) and open mouth bags with a block bottom for building mixtures, chemical fertilizer and etc.;
- Polyethylene terephthalate (PET) preforms for bottles of 0.5, 1.5 and 5-6 liter;
- Polyethylene and polypropylene household goods.
The Stavroplast’ history begins in the era of USSR, in 1972, under the name of “Souvenir” when first pressure die casting line was launched.
In 2009 Russian Plastic Ltd. bought 100% of the plant and since this time vast investment program has been implemented.
The company realized full replacement of engineering utility communications and total reconstruction of the factory.
Modern high precision equipment from well-known producers (BSW, Starlinger, LEMO, Husky, Arburg and others) for manufacturing of PP bags, HDPE and LDPE shopping bags, PE film and PET preforms was put into operation.
The production capacities of the enterprise were increased from 500 tons in 2008 to 8,000 tons in 2015 per annum.
The company continues to rev up the production output by purchasing newest PP bags producing lines and up-to-date injection moulding machines for moulding PET preforms.
In next three years the annual production capacities will exceed 18,000 tons.
ECOLOGY AND ECONOMY
PP bags ideally combine minimum raw material usage, adhesive-free sack production and unequalled functionality of their box-shaped design. As a result, they are made in a particularly economical way but can also be filled and palletized similarly as the conventional pasted valve bags. Billions of bags used for various packaging applications are proof of the robustness, performance and favorable cost of this packaging medium.
Due to material characteristics and special production process the weight of an average 50 kg PP cement sack can be as low as 75g. A comparable 3-layer paper bag will weigh about 180g and a PE-film bag 150g. An economical use of raw material not only helps minimize cost, it is also a valuable contribution to the preservation of our environment.
Even after emptying, PP bags are a resource. Recycling is one option because polypropylene is fully recyclable into resin; another possibility is intrusion, by which household-grade plastic waste is processed into quality moulded products. There is always the option of burning the sacks to recover the very high calorific value which is almost as high as the energy value of fuel oil. Cement plants all over the world supplement oil and coal with secondary fuels to achieve savings of up to 30% of primary fuels.
Recycled PET is also a desired secondary resource. PET is fully recyclable and may be used for manufacturing new products in many industrial areas such as packaging for detergents, cosmetics, high-quality carpets, car spare parts, pillow fillings for allergic persons and fabrics. Its versatility in many industries makes it unreplaceable.
Russian Plastic has its own recycling facilities to utilize PET, PE and PP products and help to save environment by creating household goods.
